Justice For Ivory Rucker

When you first come to the blog’s homepage, you see the picture at the top of the page; it looks like a beautiful day in Atlanta.

But it’s anything BUT a beautiful day, when your baby brother — who’s been diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia since young adulthood — has been beaten unmercifully and in spite of all the powerful people in a city the size of Atlanta, nothing can be done about it.

The purpose of this blog is to publicize the details of a gross injustice that was perpetrated here in Atlanta, by individuals at the highest levels of State, Federal and local government against Angela’s younger brother, Ivory Rucker, a 50-something year old mentally challenged male citizen who did not deserve to be brutalized physically or victimized by our judicial system the way he was.

With the help of Angela’s friends and supporters, in this blog, we will try to start at the beginning — giving you the details of the transgressions that have been committed against Ivory, so that you can see why it is so necessary for her to release this information to the public.

Angela has shown extraordinary courage and bravery in all she’s done to try to protect Ivory. And while she is not fearful, we her support system are fearful that if this information is not publicized, there will be a “cover-up” of great magnitude — resulting in loss of the opportunity to make Ivory whole.

Ivory’s story should shock the conscience not only of Atlanta Georgia but of America.

Brief account of the incident

Briefly stated, Ivory’s action — in all liklihood — was induced or perhaps compounded by his mental state. He DARED to call Darshun Kendrick — a young woman serving in the Georgia State House representing District 93. Even though we do not know the full extent or the content of any phone conversation he might have had with her, it has not been alleged that Ivory said anything untoward to the legislator or that could be considered out of the way, immoral or offensive. Moreover, the call was made to the legislator’s public phone. Therefore, as a citizen of her district, and one of her constituents, he had a perfect right to call her.

Her reaction was to initiate legal action against him, alleging “harassing communications.” Documentation proves that she was advised by law enforcement to simply “block his number.”

But, judging from the video you will watch in just a moment, Representative Kendrick did more than just file a charge against Ivory. She obviously dispatched her personal “Goonsquad” to exact a physical attack on him.

On April 28, 2018, Ivory was ambushed in a most cowardly manner — attacked FROM BEHIND — and brutalized by the brother and boyfriend of the law-maker, resulting in multiple injuries, and a concussion.

Though — according to police — all the men denied that the assault ever took place, there were numerous witnesses to the attack, and ultimately, Angela, taking it upon herself to conduct her own investigation, discovered the existence of a surveillance video that captured the vicious attack.

The Brutal Beating Captured on Surveillance Video

This is the surveillance video dated April 28, 2018 around 2:25 PM. This video documents the brutal beating of Ivory Rucker. As you can see that about 18 seconds into the video, Rucker is walking on the 2nd floor of the building; The two men mount the stairs from the parking lot, and approach him from behind. He is first ambushed by one man, and then a second man approaches from behind. The two men both commence to pummel him by kicking in the head, punching, and other blows. Rucker doesn’t even attempt to defend himself from these aggressive attacks. Instead he assumes a fetal position. As the video documents, they beat him for about four minutes, until someone else who looks to be a police officer of some kind, intervenes. The two men are later identified as the brother and boyfriend of Dar’shun Kendrick; but, in a televised interview, Kendrick denies sending these men to attack Rucker. You Think?

In the meantime, Ivory has been in custody all this time, without an arraignment, an indictment, a trial, a conviction, or a sentence. In spite of Angela having legal guardianship of Ivory, no one has shown the courtesy or the respect to inform her about his status. What is disturbing, however is how Angela has discovered numerous instances of document falsification, and all manner of deception with respect to her brother’s detainment and mistreatment.

This is merely a summary of the issue. We will within the blog, elaborate on these issues in detail, and where available, provide documentation that supports the conclusion(s) that Angela has drawn based on her efforts to navigate this issue.

A Corrupt Process and Corrupt Officials

According to Psychology Today: “There’s no denying that people with mental health challenges frequently make bad choices. So, too, does everyone else. One of the basic rights we all have is the right to make mistakes, and people struggling with mental illness – no matter how serious their condition – are no different from the rest of us. So, when you or a family member is struggling with mental health challenges, you really have to know your rights in order to protect them, because you can’t count on anyone else to advocate on your behalf.”

In her quest to free Ivory, this is a very hard lesson that Angela has learned the hard way. It is obvious that even some legal professionals do not understand or respect the challenges or the rights of the mentally ill — or just don’t care.

We believe with all our hearts, that a problem of this magnitude could only be the result of pure unadulterated CORRUPTION among law-makers, law enforcement agencies, and any number of State actors who have been involved in this case.

At this time, Angela is in need of legal representation for her brother but much more — in the way of support — is needed to bring the justice demanded by this infringement on Ivory’s Civil and Human Rights.

Angela is a devoted sister who has worked tirelessly for nearly two years to free Ivory with little to no help; and little to no results. Yet, she has pledged to continue to push for redress of her grievance until Ivory is made whole.
